குறள் 1071:
மக்களே போல்வர் கயவர் அவரன்ன
ஒப்பாரி யாங்கண்ட தில்
- தெய்வப்புலவர்

விளக்கம்:
உள்ளத்தில் கயமை தனமும் உருவத்தில் இனிமையாகவும் தோன்றும் தன்மையை மனித இனத்தில் தவிர வேறு உயிரினத்தில் காணமுடியாது.

One cannot see this status at any living beings as it is seen in human habits that is the turpitude trait inside but sweety behaviour out side.

நன்றறி வாரிற் கயவர் திருவுடையர்
நெஞ்சத் தவலம் இலர்

விளக்கம்:
நல்லவர் நன்மை தீமையை ஆராய்ந்து வாழ்வதாலும், கயவரோ எது பற்றியும் (நீதி நேர்மை) கவலைப்படாது வாழ்வதாலும் கயவர்கள் செல்வந்தர்களாக காணப்படுகிறார்கள்.

Turpituder looks always wealthy because they do not bother about justice at any situation whereas good people are afraid of justice.

தேவ ரனையர் கயவர் அவருந்தாம்
மேவன செய்தொழுக லான்

விளக்கம்:
கயவரும் தேவரும் ஒரு விதத்தில் ஒன்றே. காரணம், கயவர்கள் யாதொரு  கட்டுப்பாடுமின்றி வாழ்வதால் விரும்பியவற்றுடன்  தேவர்களை போல் வாழும் நிலை ஏற்படுகிறது.

பண்பாடு கருதி அடங்கி வாழும் மக்களை கண்டால், கயவர் எது பற்றியும் கவலைப்படாததால், தாங்கள் உயர்ந்தவர்கள் என்ற இருமாப்புக் கொள்வர் கயவர்கள்.

அவாவுண்டேல் உண்டாம் சிறிது

அச்சம் என்றொன்று கயவரிடம் இருந்தால் ஒழுக்கம் இருந்திருக்கும். இச்சை கொள்ளும் பொருள் கிடைக்கும்வரை ஒழுக்கம் நிறைந்தவர் போல் காட்டி கொள்வர் கயவர்கள்.

If turpituders had fear to God, they would be disciplined in life. They would pretend like disciplined persons till they obtain things which they desire.

அறைபறை அன்னர் கயவர்தாம் கேட்ட
மறைபிறர்க் குய்த்துரைக்க லான்

விளக்கம்:
கேட்டறிந்த செய்திகளை ரகசியம் காக்கத் தெரியாத கயவர்கள் உடனே பிறர்க்கு தெரிவிப்பதால் பறை என்ற வாத்தியத்திற்கு ஒப்பானவர்கள் ஆவார்கள்.

ஓங்கும் கையில்லாத எளியோருக்கு (முரடரல்லாதவர்க்கு) எச்சில் கையால் கூட ஈகை செய்யமாட்டார்கள் கயவர்கள்.

சான்றோர் எளியோருக்கு எளிதில் உதவுவர் ஆனால் கரும்பை பிழிவது போல் பிரயத்தனம் செய்தால் மட்டுமே கயவரிடமிருந்து உதவி பெறமுடியும்.

பிறர் உடுத்துவதிலும் உண்பதிலும் பொறாமை கொண்டு குற்றம் கண்டு செய்தியாக்குவார்கள் கயவர்கள்.

தமக்கு துன்பம் என்று ஒன்று வந்து விட்டால், தன்னையே விரைந்து விற்பதற்கும் தயங்க மாட்டார்கள் கயவர்கள்.
