LESSON 04.

PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE
CHANGING VOICE - ALL STATEMENTS - TENSE VERSA-
Author: Mahendiran V

Common reminder, Readers are advised to glance at the previous lessons for enabling themselves what is going on here.

This is the fourth tense. It is used to express a matter that has been going on continually, not continuously.

HAVE BEEN or HAS BEEN are used as auxiliaries to the subject based on the person along with the present participle form of the verb.

Likely passive voice is not used in this tense though may be used in the American or any other private system. Anyway, we are to do the statement promotion on both voices.

"I HAVE BEEN USING THIS COMPUTER SINCE MY CHILDHOOD."
I is the subject to the verb.
HAVE BEEN USING is the verb.
THIS COMPUTER is the object to the verb.
SINCE MY CHILDHOOD is the adjunct to the verb.

POSITIVE

I have been using this computer since my childhood.
This computer has been being used by me since my childhood. (NOTE: THIS USAGE IS NOT ACCEPTED IN THE BRITISH ENGLISH PATTERN)

NEGATIVE
I haven't been using this computer since my childhood.
This computer hasn't been being used by me since my childhood.

INTERROGATIVE QUESTION TO SUBJECT
Who has been using this computer since the childhood?
By whom has this computer been being used since the childhood?

INTERROGATIVE QUESTION TO VERB

What has this computer been being done by you since your childhood?

INTERROGATIVE QUESTION TO OBJECT

What has been being used by you since your childhood?

INTERROGATIVE QUESTION TO ADJUNCT

Has this computer been being used by you since your childhood?

SPECIFIC QUESTION NEGATIVE

Hasn't this computer been being used by you since your childhood?

TAG QUESTION POSITIVE

TAG QUESTION NEGATIVE

(Note: Once again it is advised that the passive form of this tense is not used in the original English pattern even if it's transitive or intransitive.)
