You need not confuse of hearing this word ‘compartment”. Just what you obviously use the parts in a sentence namely subject, auxiliary, verb, object, indirect object, complement, adverbs, infinitives is known as compartments. If these are not placed according to rule and situation, your sentence will attempt foul. It is better you remember here, a learner shall not in take this rule cautiously, instead, may do functionally by creating some views through sentences, only then you will comprehensively realize where to use which compartment.
