GRAMMAR IS EASY
BUT YOU FEEL IT IS CRUCIAL- PHASE-1
V.MAHENDIRAN
One of my
students asked me just now over phone, "Is Grammar important to speak in
English..?"
I replied him that I was going to post the answer for your
question in my blog so I am writing here.
First of all, what he separated Grammar as a pattern, is
wrong, No one could label Grammar a content of English language, even in any
language!
Grammar is a unit of rules for a language. Obeying or disobeying
is the users' rights. If a person is good in knowing the rules of a language,
he would not get struck to use such language, that's all. Being a trainer, we
should recommend to learners as learning grammar is important to feel English
is easy.
There is any parameter to say 'this is grammar', 'that is grammar';
'this is not grammar'. Unfortunately the rules of a language are titled
Grammar.
Whatever you do in English is in under the grammar rule. For
making ease students, Grammar might have been titled as a portion.
In my point of you, all is grammar in English when you
approach it under rules. You may ask, which rule to be considered initially for
being good in English.
My answer must be "All" but at least, to know the
rules of voice, tense and statement will help you not to break rules when you
speak or write.
You should be able to identify in which voice, tense and
statement a sentence is done. This is the gate of grammar.
Voice, tense, statement should be studied passionately, not
like learning an academy portion.
For eg. "Where did you go yesterday?" - is a
sentence. You should be able to identify stated above.
This is in active voice, simple past tense and an
interrogative statement.
LET YOU CLEAR ON IN THIS EXERCISE, FINDING VOICE, TENSE AND STATEMENT.
1. Has
she done well all?
2. You
are worst sometimes.
3. Didn't
you see the rocket-launching yesterday?
4. All
were done well.
5. You
are good.
6. You
can do it if it is understood easily.
7. The
rule must be followed.
8. When
was it sent?
9. You
should have done it.
10. Will
I be informed over phone?
We'll see the answers in the phase 2, continues soon.
