குறள் 121:
அடக்கம் அமரருள் உய்க்கும் அடங்காமை
ஆரிருள் உய்த்து விடும்

விளக்கம்:
அடங்கி வணக்கத்துடன் வாழும் வாழ்க்கை மிளிரும். அப்படி வாழாத வாழ்க்கையை இருள்சூழும்.

Explanation in English:
Obedience will bring one to a bright life. Failing which will be brought to a dark life.

குறள் 122:
காக்க பொருளா அடக்கத்தை ஆக்கம்
அதனினூஉங் கில்லை உயிர்க்கு

விளக்கம்:
அடக்கமான குணம் ஒருவனின் வாழ்க்கையை பலமாக்குவதுபோல் வேறு எதுவும் பலமாக்காது.

Explanation in English:
Obedience is the big wealth to one's life. No any other to strengthen one's life.

குறள் 123:
செறிவறிந்து சீர்மை பயக்கும் அறிவறிந்
தாற்றின் அடங்கப் பெறின்

விளக்கம்:
அடக்கம், பணிவுடன் வாழ்வதே அறிவார்ந்த செயல் என்பதையுணர்ந்து வாழ்பவரின் வாழ்க்கையில் எல்லையில்லா புகழ் என்றும் நிறைந்திருக்கும்.

Explanation in English:
One who knows only the obedient way is sensible will be lifted up for getting infinite fames by all in his life.

குறள் 124:
நிலையின் திரியா தடங்கியான் தோற்றம்
மலையினும் மாணப் பெரிது

விளக்கம்:
கிஞ்சித்த அளவும் ஒழுக்கம் தவறாது பணிவுடன் வாழும் தன்மை எந்த ஒரு மலையை காட்டிலும் உயரமானது.

Explanation in English:
Living without slipping even bit in the way of discipline and obedience is taller than any mountain.

எல்லார்க்கும் நன்றாம் பணிதல் அவருள்ளும்
செல்வர்க்கே செல்வம் தகைத்து

விளக்கம்:
ஒழுக்கநெறிகளை கையாண்டு பணிவுடன் வாழ்பவனே செல்வந்தர்களை விட செல்வந்தன்.

Explanation in English:
One who is obeying good people and living disciplilinarilly is rich man than any other rich people.

குறள் 126:
ஒருமையுள் ஆமைபோல் ஐந்தடக்கல் ஆற்றின்
எழுமையும் ஏமாப் புடைத்து

விளக்கம்:
ஆமை தன் அவையங்களை தன் ஓட்டுக்குள் இழுத்து வைத்துக்கொள்வதுபோல் ஐம்புலன்களையும் அடக்கியாளும் வித்தை தெரிந்தவன் தற்காலத்திலும் எதிர்காலத்திலும் செல்வ செழிப்புடன் விளங்குவான்.

Explanation in English:
One who balances his senses of  five prime parts like a tortoise does will live well in life and also in the future lives having all wealth.

குறள் 127:
யாகாவா ராயினும் நாகாக்க காவாக்காற்
சோகாப்பர் சொல்லிழுக்குப் பட்டு

விளக்கம்:
பேச்சில் தன் நாவை அடக்கி ஆளத் தெரியாதவனுக்கு எல்லா வகையிலும் துன்பநிலை வந்துசேரும்.

Explanation in English:
If one doesn't control his tongue during speaking he will suffer with difficulties a lot in all respects.

குறள் 128:
ஒன்றானுந் தீச்சொல் பொருட்பயன் உண்டாயின்
நன்றாகா தாகி விடும்

விளக்கம்:
ஒரு சிறிய, தீய வார்த்தை போதும், ஒருவன் சம்பாதித்து வைத்த அனைத்து நற்புகழை வீனாக்கிவிடும்.

Explanation in English:
A single evil word is enough much to spoil one's earned all moralities.

குறள் 129:
தீயினாற் சுட்டபுண் உள்ளாறும் ஆறாதே
நாவினாற் சுட்ட வடு

விளக்கம்:
நெருப்பினால் வந்த காயம் கூட குணமாகிவிடும் ஆனால் கடுஞ்சொற்களால் ஏற்படும் காயத்தை குணப்படுத்த முடியாது.

Explanation in English:
Sore caused even by fire too can be cured but not an injury caused by words.

குறள் 130:
கதங்காத்துக் கற்றடங்கல் ஆற்றுவான் செவ்வி
அறம்பார்க்கும் ஆற்றின் நுழைந்து

விளக்கம்:
சிறந்த கல்வியும் நற்பண்பும் கொண்டு மதிப்பு மிக்கவனாக வாழ்பவனை அந்த அறமே காத்திருந்து அவனை வரவேற்கும்.

Explanation in English:
Even virtuality too will be waiting to welcome a man who has been living with all respective manners like having education and obedience.
