குறள் 141:
பிறன்பொருளான் பெட்டொழுகும் பேதைமை ஞாலத்தறம்பொருள் கண்டார்க ணில்

விளக்கம்:
அடுத்தவர் மனைக்கு (கணவன்/மனைவி) ஆசைப்படுவோர் அறனுக்கு முரணானவர் என்பதை கற்றோர் அறிவர்.

Explanation in English:
The characteristic of desiring other's spouse is against the morality. Well versed literates would know it.

அறன்கடை நின்றாரு ளெல்லாம் பிறன்கடை
நின்றாரிற் பேதையா ரில்

விளக்கம்:
பிறர் மனைக்கு ஒழுக்கத்திற்கு முரணாக ஆசைப்படும் செயலைப் போல கொடிய பாவம் உலகில் வேறெதுவுமில்லை.

தீமை புரிந்தொழுகு வார்

நம்பிக்கைக்குட்பட்டு அனுமதிக்கப்படுபவன் அனுமதித்தவனின் மனைவி மீது இச்சை கொள்வானானால், அவன் இறந்த உடலுக்கு சமம்.

If a person who is believed very much by another is desiring the another's wife in wrong way, such person is worse than dead body.

எனைத்துணைய ராயினும் என்னாந் தினைத்துணையும்
தேரான் பிறனில் புகல்

எத்தனைதான் உயர்வாய் இருந்து புகழ்பெற்றவராயிருந்தாலும் அவர் அடுத்தோர் மனையாளின் மேல் மோகம் கொண்டால் அவர் தன் தகுதி புகழ் அனைத்தும் மதிப்பற்று போகும்.

How far as one is prime and fame, if he wills to have other's spouse, his entire status is invalid.

எளிதென இல்லிறப்பா னெய்துமெஞ் ஞான்றும்
விளியாது நிற்கும் பழி

விளக்கம்:
எளிதான ஒன்று என்று எண்ணி பிறர் மனைவியின் மீது ஆசை கொள்வது தீர்க்க முடியாத பாவச்செயல்.

Explanation in English:
One who tries to have other's spouse by thinking that's an easy one will earn an unsoluable sin.

குறள் 146:
பகைபாவம் அச்சம் பழியென நான்கும்
இகவாவாம் இல்லிறப்பான் கண்

விளக்கம்:
பிறர் மனை நோக்கி ஆசை கொள்வோர், பகை, பாவம், அச்சம் மற்றும் பழி ஆகிய இந்த நான்கிலிருந்து தப்பிக்கவே முடியாது.

Explanation in English:
One who wills to have other's spouse will never escape from four forms such as enemines, sin, fear and crime.

அறனியலான் இல்வாழ்வா னென்பான் பிறனியலான்
பெண்மை நயவா தவன்

எச்சூழலிலும் பிறர் மனைக்கு இச்சை கொள்ளாதவரே நல்லொழுக்கத்துடன் வாழ்பவராகிறார்.

Living with good disciplines means that not to will other's spouse at any circumstance.

பிறன்மனை நோக்காத பேராண்மை சான்றோர்க்
கறனென்றோ ஆன்ற வொழுக்கு

பிறர் மனை நோக்காத் தன்மை அறம் மட்டுமானதல்ல, மேன்மையான ஒழுக்கம் நிறைந்தது ஆகும்.

நலக்குரியார் யாரெனின் நாமநீர் வைப்பின்
பிறற்குரியாள் தோள்தோயா தார்

பிறர்மனை பால் விரல் கூட  படா எண்ணம் கொண்டோரே பயம் காட்டும் கடல்சூழ்ந்த இப்புவியில் வாழத் தகுதியுடையவர்.

அறன்வரையா னல்ல செயினும் பிறன்வரையாள்
பெண்மை நயவாமை நன்று

பிறருக்கு உபகாரம் செய்யாதாகினும் பரவாயில்லை, அது ஒரு பொருட்டு அல்ல. ஆனால் பிறர்மனை பால் கனவிலும் ஆசை கொள்ளக் கூடாது.

Explanation in English:
Even if one hasn't done even a bit betterment to others, that is not a matter at all. But he shouldn't even think to desire other's wife.
