குறள் 791:
நாடாது நட்டலிற் கேடில்லை நட்டபின்
வீடில்லை நட்பாள் பவர்க்கு
- தெய்வப்புலவர்

விளக்கம்:
நல்லவரோ தீயவரோ ஒருவருடன் நட்பு கொண்டபின், விடுவது என்பது அரிதானதாகிவிடும். நட்பு கொள்ளும் முன் ஆராய்ந்து பார்த்து நட்பு கொள்ளல் வேண்டும்.

தவறிழைத்தால் அழ வைக்கும் அளவுக்கு கனத்த குரலில் கண்டித்து நல்வழிக்கு இட்டுச் செல்லும் நல்லோரை நட்பாக்கி கொள்ளல் வேண்டும்.

நட்பின் பால் கிடைத்த நஷ்ட்டமானது பாடமாகி, மேலும் அதைப் போன்ற நட்பை தேடா அறிவு கிடைப்பது நன்மை தானே? ஆதலினால்
தீதிலும் ஒரு நன்மை உண்டு.

An ill too get a gain. It means that if one gets one as a friend and getting loss of good will because of the friend, it is evil. He would never do such a fault in the future. That lesson is a gain.

கேண்மை ஒரீஇ விடல்

விளக்கம்:
ஊதியம் என்பது இங்கு லாபம். அதாவது, அறிவிலிகளின் நட்பை உடனே துறப்பது ஒருவருக்கு பெரிய லாபமாகும்.

ஊக்கத்தை மங்கச் செய்யும் செயல்களை  செய்யாதிருத்தல் வேண்டும். துன்பம் வரும் பொழுது விலகிக்கொள்ளும் நட்பை விலக்கிவைத்துவிடவேண்டும்.

ஒருவர் கேடை சந்திக்கும் காலத்தில் விட்டு விலகிய நட்பை, இறக்கும் நேரத்தில் கூட அந்த வஞ்சனை செயலை மறக்க முடியாது.

மனதில் அழுக்கற்ற மானிடரையே நண்பராக்கி கொள்ள வேண்டும். அழுக்கு நிறைந்த அற்பர்களை விலை கொடுத்தாவது ஒதுக்கிடல் வேண்டும்.
