குறள் 51:
மனைத்தக்க மாண்புடையள் ஆகித்தற் கொண்டான்
வளத்தக்காள் வாழ்க்கைத் துணை

விளக்கம்:
துணைவனின் சம்பாதித்யத்திற்கு தகுந்தாற்போல் குடும்பத்தை நகர்த்தி செல்பவளே சிறந்த மனைவியாவாள்.

மனைமாட்சி இல்லாள்கண் இல்லாயின் வாழ்க்கை
எனைமாட்சித் தாயினும் இல்

மனைவி ஒழுக்கம் தவறி வாழ்ந்தால் குடும்ப கௌரவம், துணைவனின் மதிப்பு, புகழ் அனைத்தும் பாழாகும்.

இல்லதென் இல்லவள் மாண்பானால் உள்ளதென்
இல்லவள் மாணாக் கடை

ஒரு குடும்பத்தின் தரம் என்பது மனைவியின் ஆளுமை மற்றும் அவள் தரத்தை பொறுத்தமைந்தாகும்.
