குறள் 371:
ஆகூழால் தோன்றும் அசைவின்மை கைப்பொருள்
போகூழால் தோன்று மடி

விளக்கம்:
பொருள் தேடா அசைவற்ற நிலையை தருவதும், பொருள் தேடும் முயற்ச்சியை தருவதும் ஒருவரின் விதியே.

Explanation in English:
The reason for one's inability of earning being stable, and being brisk for earning is depending upon one's fate.

குறள் 372:
பேதைப் படுக்கும் இழவூழ் அறிவகற்றும்
ஆகலூ ழுற்றக் கடை

விளக்கம்:
அறிவை அகற்ற வைத்து பேதமையை உண்டாக்கி ஒன்றை இழக்க வைப்பதும், ஆக்கத்துடன் இருக்க வைப்பதும் விதியின் செயல்களாகும்.

Explanation in English:
Making one to get fade up in life by plucking knowledge towards making him losing all, and making one to be creative are the acts of fate.

நுண்ணிய நூல்பல கற்பினும் மற்றுந்தன்
உண்மை யறிவே மிகும்

விளக்கம்:
நூல்கள் பல கற்பதால் பெறும் அறிவை, விதிப்பயனால் பிறப்பில் பெறும் உண்மை அறிவு மிகுதியாக்கும்.

Explanation in English:
The wisdom that is obtained from birth through fate would enhance the wisdoms earned by studying numerous books.

இருவே றுலகத் தியற்கை திருவேறு
தெள்ளிய ராதலும் வேறு

விளக்கம்:
இரு வெவ்வேறு இயல்புகள் இயற்கையாம் விதியில். செல்வத்தில் திளைப்பது ஒன்று. அறிஞராக ஜொலிப்பது ஒன்று.

Explanation in English:
Fate determines two different routes. One is that making one to glitters in wealth and making another one glitters in wisdom.

நல்லவை யெல்லாஅந் தீயவாந் தீயவும்
நல்லவாஞ் செல்வஞ் செயற்கு

விளக்கம்:
செல்வம் தேடும் சூழலில் நல்லவை தீயவையாவதும் தீயவை நல்லவையாவதும் விதியின் பண்பே.

Explanation in English:
During earning wealth, it is effect of fate what goodness becomes bad and badness becomes good.

பரியினும் ஆகாவாம் பாலல்ல உய்த்துச்
சொரியினும் போகா தம

விளக்கம்:
ஒருவரின் உரிமைப் பொருட்கள் அவர் வேண்டாம் என்றாலும் அவரிடம் தான் நிற்கும். உரிமையில்லாதவைகளை அவர் வேண்டும் என்றாலும் விதி அவற்றை இழக்கவைத்துவிடும்.

Explanation in English:
Even if one doesn't want his own wealth and belongings, those will stand with him stably, and those things which aren't his but if he wants to possess them, fate will make him lose those things.

குறள் 377:
வகுத்தான் வகுத்த வகையல்லாற் கோடி
தொகுத்தார்க்குந் துய்த்த லரிது

விளக்கம்:
கோடிகள் பல சேர்த்தாலும் விதிப்பயன் இல்லையென்றால், சேர்த்தவர் அவற்றை அடைவது அல்லது அனுபவிப்பது அரிது.

Explanation in English:
Even if one earns crores and crores, if there is no fate to one to enjoy them, he can't.

துறப்பார்மன் துப்புர வில்லார் உறற்பால
ஊட்டா கழியு மெனின்

விளக்கம்:
எளியோர்க்கு, துன்ப நிலை நீங்கிப்போகும் விதி அவர்களிடம்  இல்லையெனில், நுகர வேண்டியவற்றை நுகரும் வாய்ப்பில்லாமல், அவர்கள் துறவு நிலையை அடைய வேண்டிவரும்.

Explanation in English:
If there is no fate to poor people to stand away from miseries, they will stand on the state of asceticism.

குறள் 379:
நன்றாங்கால் நல்லவாக் காண்பவர் அன்றாங்கால்
அல்லற் படுவ தெவன்

விளக்கம்:
நன்மைகள் நடந்தால் இன்பத்தை ஒதுக்கிவைக்காமல் மகிழ்வுறும் மக்கள், தீமைகள் நடந்தால் துன்பம் விதிப் பயன் என்று உணராமல் அழுவது அறிவன்று.

Explanation in English:
What while people are enjoying their happiness during being happy without thinking about fate, crying thinking about fate when they are sad is not right.

ஊழிற் பெருவலி யாவுள மற்றொன்று
சூழினுந் தான்முந் துறும்

விளக்கம்:
விதியின் வலிமை தெரியாமல் அதன் வலியை போக்கிட வேறு வழிநாடினாலும் அங்கும் கூட விதி தான் வலிமையாய் வந்து நிற்கும்.

Explanation in English:
Even if one turns his path to be away from the pain of fate without knowing the strength of fate, the fate will come and stand there too.
