ஒத்தாங் கொறுப்பது வேந்து

விளக்கம்:
குற்றம் செய்தவனை அவன் மீண்டும் அக்குற்றம் செய்யாவண்ணம் ஆராய்ந்து தண்டனை வழங்குவதே சிறந்த வேந்தனுக்கு அழகு.

A king who punishes crimed persons has to announce that his punishment would be very severe but he has to punish reasonably. Only then he could prolong his reign.

குடிகளிடம் முகம் காட்டா அல்லது கடுகடுத்த முகத்துடன் காணப்படும் அரசன் நிறைந்த செல்வம் வைத்திருந்தாலும், அவன் பூதத்துடன் ஒப்பிட மட்டுமே லாயக்கானவன்.

கடிந்து பேசும் குணமும் இன்முகமும் இல்லாத அரசனிடம் உள்ள செல்வம் எளிதில் கரைந்துபோகும்.

கடுங்குணமும் அதீத தண்டனையும் தரும் அரசனின் அரண் வளமையாக இருந்தாலும் நாளுக்கு நாள் தேய்ந்து போகும்.

நல்லோர் பேச்சை கேட்காதவனே கடுங்கோல் அரசாட்சி செய்யும் அரசனாக உருவாகுவான் .  இந்நிலையை போன்ற ஒரு பெருஞ்சுமை ஒரு நாட்டிற்கு வேறெதுவுமில்லை.
