குறள் 381:
படைகுடி கூழமைச்சு நட்பரண் ஆறும்
உடையான் அரசரு ளேறு

விளக்கம்:
சிறந்த படை, நல்ல பிரஜைகள், மிகுந்த செல்வம், அறிவுமிகு அமைச்சர்கள், அயலாரிடம் அன்பு, மக்கள் அச்சமின்றி வாழ பாதுகாப்பு - இவை ஆறும் கொண்டவனே வீரமிகு சிங்கத்திற்கு இணையான அரசனாவான்.

Explanation in English:
One who has the six prime stances like, strong troops, Moral people, immeasurable wealth, intelligent ministers, kind relationship with strangers, and safety assurance for people to live fearlessly is the powerful and brave king of a nation. And he is parellel to a lion.

குறள் 382:
அஞ்சாமை ஈகை அறிவூக்கம் இந்நான்கும்
எஞ்சாமை வேந்தற் கியல்பு

விளக்கம்:
ஒரு சிறந்த அரசனுக்கு இயல்பாகவே இருக்க வேண்டிய நான்கு நற்பண்புகள் யாதெனில், அஞ்சாமை, உதவும் குணம், நிறைந்த அறிவு, ஊக்கம்.

Explanation in English:
A powerful king should have four best characteristics for his good reign. They are, fearlessness, the trait of helping tendency, much more intelligence and powerfulness in his reigning acts.

குறள் 383:
தூங்காமை கல்வி துணிவுடைமை அம்மூன்றும்
நீங்கா நிலனாள் பவற்கு

விளக்கம்:
புவி ஆளும் ஒரு மன்னன், எந்நேரத்திலும் சோர்ந்து விடாமலிருத்தல் வேண்டும். கல்வியறிவு பெற்றிருக்கவேண்டும். அஞ்சாநெஞ்சம் கொண்டவனாக இருக்கவேண்டும்.

Explanation in English:
A king who rules his nation must not get fatigue at any situation, should be literate, should have fearless heart.

அறனிழுக்கா தல்லவை நீக்கி மறனிழுக்கா
மான முடைய தரசு

விளக்கம்:
அறனுக்கு பங்கம் ஏற்படாது, தீயவைகளை அகற்றி வீரத்துடன் செயல்படுவதே மானம் உள்ள அரசாகும்.

Explanation in English:
Only the Goverment which is acting bravely without losing Morality, rubbing out all evils is honourable one.

இயற்றலும் ஈட்டலுங் காத்தலுங் காத்த
வகுத்தலும் வல்ல தரசு

விளக்கம்:
வருவாயை உருவாக்கி அதை கருவூலம் நிரம்ப பெருக்கி, அவற்றை காத்து நின்று, அறிவுப்பூர்வமாக செலவிடும் அரசே வல்லமை பொருந்திய அரசாங்கமாகும்.

Explanation in English:
Only which creates income sources, multiplying such to full of treasury, protecting such, and intelligently alloting funds for reasonable expenditures is an immense Goverment.

காட்சி கெளியன் கடுஞ்சொல்லன் அல்லனேல்
மீக்கூறும் மன்னன் நிலம்

விளக்கம்:
காண்பதற்கு எளிமையானவனாகவும் கடுஞ்சொல் கூறாதவனாகவும் இருந்து  ஆட்சி புரியும் அரசனையே இவ்வுலகம் மெச்சும்.

Explanation in English:
The world will applaud the king who is ruling, looking very simple and without pronouncing any hard word.

இன்சொலால் ஈத்தளிக்க வல்லாற்குத் தன்சொலால்
தான்கண் டனைத்திவ் வுலகு

விளக்கம்:
இனிய சொல் பிரயோகித்து ஈகை குணம் பெற்று, மக்களை காக்கும் மன்னனையே இவ்வுலகம் போற்றும்.

Explanation in English:
The world will praise the king who protects people, with having stance of helping tendency and by speaking sweetly with people.

முறைசெய்து காப்பாற்றும் மன்னவன் மக்கட்
கிறையென்று வைக்கப் படும்

விளக்கம்:
பகுத்தாராய்ந்து முறையான நீதி வழங்கி மக்களை காக்கும் மன்னன் மக்களால் இறைவனுக்கு நிகராக கருதப்படுவான்.

Explanation in English:
The king who is being honest and judging justiciouly for protecting people will be considered equallent to God by people.

செவிகைப்பச் சொற்பொறுக்கும் பண்புடை வேந்தன்
கவிகைக்கீழ்த் தங்கு முலகு

விளக்கம்:
காது கொடுத்து கேட்கஇயலா கடுஞ்சொற்களால் விமர்சிக்கப்பட்டாலும், அப்படி அவர்கள் செய்வது தவறு என்றறிந்து அவற்றை பொறுத்துக் கொண்டு அரசாளும் மன்னனின் ஆட்சியே இவ்வுலககில் நிலைத்து நிற்கும்.

Explanation in English:
The reign of a king who is very much patient even if he is criticised with harsh words by others (despite knowing such words are against truth) will stand for ever.

கொடையளி செங்கோல் குடியோம்பல் நான்கும்
உடையானாம் வேந்தர்க் கொளி

விளக்கம்:
கொடை வழங்குதல், கருணை காட்டல், நல்லாட்சி செய்தல், எளியோரை அரவணைத்து காத்தல் ஆகிய நான்கு பண்புகளையும் கொண்ட மன்னனின் ஆட்சியில் வறுமை வராது.

Explanation in English:
No poverty will be in the reign of a king who is having the four characteristics such as, donating to people, showing mercy on people, ruling good, and being a strong safeguard for people.
