Are there only three articles in the English language? (Written by Mahendiran V) Yes, Only three words are used in the name of articles. But five situations are there to use the three words. A AN THE are called articles is well known by all. These three words are taking five situations such as  1. INDEFINITE BEFORE VOWEL SOUND- AN 2. INDEFINITE BEFORE CONSONANT SOUND- A 3. DEFINITE BEFORE VOWEL SOUND- THE (DHI) 4. DEFINITE BEFORE CONSONANT SOUND- THE (DHA) 5. ZERO BEFORE CERTAIN WORD- (NO ARTICLE) Read this sentence. I saw A man near THE Union office with AN umbrella in his hand AN hour ago. THE man was struggling to unfold THE umbrella to protect himself from THE sunlight. A boy who was watching him helped THE man to unfold it. THE man thanked THE boy and asked who he was. He said that he was A European, and has come to visit (0) India. THE FUNCTIONS OF AUXILIARIES (A new approach)

Image
THE FUNCTIONS OF AUXILIARIES Written by Mahendiran V AUXILIARY is a word that supports to a verb for its action.  A verb cannot function in a sentence without an auxiliary. There are only 26 auxiliaries in the language. AM, IS, ARE, WAS, WERE  These are called DESIGNATED AUXILIARY CUM VERB. These words can function as an auxiliary and as a verb in different situations. The feature of these words is, when these are used as a verb, they will not take any auxiliary for support. DO, DOES, DID, HAVE, HAS, HAD, BE, BEEN, BEING - are called AUXILIARY CUM VERB. These too can be used as an auxiliary and as a verb in different situations. When they are used as a verb they would need an auxiliary for support. MAY CAN SHALL WILL - are called PURE AUXILIARIES. They cannot be used as a verb at any situation. MIGHT COULD WOULD SHOULD MUST OUGHT TO - known as Premium pure auxiliaries. They too can be used only as an auxiliary. Can never be used as a verb. NOTE: AUXILIARY IS A CO ARTIST OF VERB. BIG DE

A matter about modulation issues during speaking in English

Image
Voice modulation is concerned as important in speaking English language. No matter if you have your own modulation since you have rights to apply your own style to your speech. But a language should be done at this ground for its slang. Thus, a speaker though he has whole rights for his tone and modulation, he ought to obey some rules of English language. You could escape from this play if you are a part-time user of English language, if you survive to run for your life in this urgent trend that is twisting all over the world, you can't evite it at any cost. Finally I am saying here that you have to follow some rules in dealing with modulation. If you are a person other than the English tongue but running with English, no other way but you have to imitate the native people of English to modulate your voice and tone in English.  A Chinese person is not modulating in original English despite being an English teacher during his teaching to his race. The listeners too come up in the sa

LESSON 04. PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE CHANGING VOICE - ALL STATEMENTS - TENSE VERSA- Author: Mahendiran V

LESSON 04. PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE CHANGING VOICE - ALL STATEMENTS - TENSE VERSA- Author: Mahendiran V Common reminder, Readers are advised to glance at the previous lessons for enabling themselves what is going on here. This is the fourth tense. It is used to express a matter that has been going on continually, not continuously. HAVE BEEN or HAS BEEN are used as auxiliaries to the subject based on the person along with the present participle form of the verb. Likely passive voice is not used in this tense though may be used in the American or any other private system. Anyway, we are to do the statement promotion on both voices. "I HAVE BEEN USING THIS COMPUTER SINCE MY CHILDHOOD." I is the subject to the verb. HAVE BEEN USING is the verb. THIS COMPUTER is the object to the verb. SINCE MY CHILDHOOD is the adjunct to the verb. POSITIVE I have been using this computer since my childhood. This computer has been being used by me since my childhood. (NOTE: TH

CHANGING VOICE - ALL STATEMENTS - TENSE VERSA-  LESSON 03. PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE Author: Mahendiran V As a default I would say that the readers should glance at the previous lessons to have a clear idea. Then if they read this lesson, they would get some comfort. Let's create an affirmative in Present continuous tense and promote it into all statements on both voices. "THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT IS CONSTRUCTING MANY BRIDGES ACROSS THE COUNTRY FOR COMFORTABLE TRAVELING" I hope that you know well that  THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT is the subject, IS CONSTRUCTING is the verb, MANY BRIDGES is the object, ACROSS THE COUNTRY is the adjunct and FOR COMFORTABLE TRAVELING is another one adjunct in this sentence, right? Let's go to promote this Affirmative into all statements on both voices. POSITIVE The central government is constructing many bridges across the country for comfortable traveling. Many bridges are being constructed by the central government across the country for comf

CHANGING VOICE - ALL STATEMENTS - TENSE VERSA- LESSON 02. PRESENT PERFECT TENSE

CHANGING VOICE - ALL STATEMENTS - TENSE VERSA-  LESSON 02. PRESENT PERFECT TENSE Author: Mahendiran V Before going through a head, it's better you go to the first lesson. https://mahendiranglobalenglish.blogspot.com/2023/09/changing-voice-all-statements-tense.html  Some explanation about this topic has been given there. If you have a glance that, you could easily be running on this lesson. Ok, Let's take an example in this tense and promote it as we have seen earlier. In the first lesson, I missed to quote a big matter. It is, only transitive sentence can be done on both voices. It means, a sentence that contains an object to the verb is called a transitive sentence. Another one is called an intransitive sentence.  In this topic, and all lessons I am to write likely for transitive one for driving this exercise on both voices. Sometimes you can see some sentences in intransitive mode. What is one, passive voice shall be missed. Let's go the Affirmative in Present perfect

CHANGING VOICE - ALL STATEMENTS - TENSE VERSA- LESSON 01. SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE

Image
CHANGING VOICE - ALL STATEMENTS - TENSE VERSA. Author: Mahendiran V  LESSON 01. SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE  How far is 'changing voice' important during learning English...? If you deserve that 'drilling Grammar' is an over drill while training English to one, it may mean that you are not taking full responsibility to make one be good in English. None is in the world without knowing that learning or teaching grammar might be interrupting one who learns spoken English. Doesn't it mean that Grammar is not important to know English to speak and write?  Anyway, without the basics of grammar how could one be well in English? This question can't be thrown out in no time before taking it at least for a review. In my point of view, I would say that a basic learner must know at least what voice, tense and statement are. If we ignore it, surely it would mean that we are not taking full responsibility for our teaching and training of English. See here,  How an affirmative stat

Image
How could I forget those days..? It happened on the September 6,7 and 8, 2021 in DR. JAYALALITHAA FISHERIES UNIVERSITY NAGAPATTINAM  Actually, I was invited by the University of Fisheries for sitting as a participant. The programme that was going on earlier was being conducted by the chief officer, who had come from Chennai, in English. Most of the audience sitting there pleaded to the Programme incharge for another one programme that to be presented in Tamil along with power point. The Deen who were the prime incharge of the University approached my friend who was working in the same University to arrange a person timingly to do a programme in Tamil with ppt as much as possible. Later my friend requested me whether I could do a seminar in the following day about Prawn and Fish culture. The subject was focusing to motivate the entrepreneurs of prawn and fish agriculture system. Although the subject was totally irrelevant to me, I agreed for conducting the same in the following day.  I

I don't think that English is tough to speak

Image
Do you know why English is easy to speak...? Really one can't answer this question easily but the one would say English is an easy language. why? Because he has experienced practically. He has known the rules and he has learned it by the way of habitual activities. he has learned English through the society. He has learned it by not thinking that he has been learning a language. He has learned it as if learning a game like foot ball or cricket. He has been eager to know the tactics by reading magazines and newspapers. He has allotted time to listening one's speech going on in English He hasn't gotten any boring during his doing the practices seen above. He hasn't ignored by throwing out English books. He knows that he is learning English indirectly collecting vocabulary and context rules through his reading such books. He has known that Rome wasn't build in a day. The first eligibility to learn English and being good in it is, one must have patience and eagerness to

MAIN AND SUBORDINATE CLAUSES IN COMPLEX SENTENCES

MAIN AND SUBORDINATE CLAUSES IN COMPLEX SENTENCES. AUTHOR: MAHENDIRAN V ---------------------- Is it important that a learner of English language must know about the clause or clauses? Whether it is important or not is not a matter but if one knows about clauses he can be very good at communicative English on both spoken and written. What is clause? A bunch of words being under rule and expresses a thought is known as clause. Every meaningful sentence is a clause. There are two types of clauses such as MAIN and SUBORDINATE. A main clause shall stand alone whereas a subordinate shall not stand alone unless it is linked with a main clause in a complex sentence. Complex sentence means that a construction done by the combination of a main clause and one or more than one subordinate clauses. Let's drill as a game to identify which is main and subordinate by framing some complex sentences constructed by main and subordinate clauses. 1. If you have a smart education this world wi

"CALL" - as a phrasal verb with different prepositions

Enjoy with sentences by using CALL as phrasal verbs. Mahendiran V  ------------------------- Call  (Ask someone to come, Dial, Invite, Address) Call him, I need his signature in the form. Please Don't call me over phone after 10 P.M  We are always calling him only his nic name. India is called as Bharath sa a classical name.   If you call police for your issues, you must need evidence for the incidence. ------------------------- Call on  (Pay visit, Visit in person) Call on our office at 10 A.M tomorrow along with your original documents. The candidates those who are in the final round ought to call on in the main hall at 11 O' clock anti meridiem. ------------------------- Call at  (Stop for a while) The ship called at in the pearl harbour owing to order of the president. All buses call at nearby bus stations due to employees' strike.  ------------------------- Call in  (Enlist, Seek one's help) It's better you call in the concerned unit to solve the issue. Hello,

I THINK AND WRITE. 01 What is grammar in a complex sentence?

I THINK AND WRITE. 01 What is grammar in a complex sentence? One of the best ways to develop your communication skills yourself is that to know to construct complex sentences at various situations. "While an eagle can pick a deer that is more weight than the eagle, why is it impossible to pick your small goat that is roaming here and there on the street?" This is a kind of complex sentence.  Do you know how many sentences have been spinned here? Let's drill grammar a bit to get the solution. "Why is it impossible to pick your goat?" - is a main clause. Others all are subordinate clauses.  "While an eagle can pick a deer" - is an adverbial subordinate clause.  "That is more weight than the eagle" - is an adjectival subordinate clause.  "That is roaming here and there on the street" - is an another one adjectival subordinate. You have to know here that a bunch of sentences those are being together with proper connections with each oth

Let's see the kick of logic in USING CORRECT TENSE FORM

Is Grammar important or not when one speaks in English?

Image

Which is correct..? IS IT HE WHOM WE SAW YESTERDAY IN THE MUSEUM? IS IT HIM WHOM WE SAW YESTERDAY IN THE MUSEUM?

Which is correct..? IS IT HE WHOM WE SAW YESTERDAY IN THE MUSEUM? IS IT HIM WHOM WE SAW YESTERDAY IN THE MUSEUM? Yes, IT IS OF COURSE HE.  Yes, IT IS OF COURSE HIM. Surely the fist one is correct though IT is nominative in this sentence and HE is accusative, only SUBJECTIVE PRONOUN should be used in the predicate section. Related sentences as a conversation. Who is that...? It is I. "I" means...? "I" means I. Was it you who pressed the calling bell? No, It was not I. It was he. - Mahendiran V MAHENDIRAN GLOBAL ENGLISH

PARTS OF SPEECH - A NEW APPROACH WRITTEN BY MAHENDIRAN V

Image
PREFACE  For instance, it is said that it is a completely new approach saying more details about the parts of speech.  Academically it is observed only eight numbers of parts of speech and being taught. I have approached here as eleven parts of speech. This approach shall never interrupt that but says more parts like auxiliaries, articles and punctuations that aren’t intended as parts in any academy pattern across the world. Auxiliaries that have been merged with verbs in the academy pattern is listed here as a main part. Also it is scrutinised deeply a bit.  Likewise, articles have been compressed with adjectives in the academy pattern. Here it is listed as a part. As a tow cart punctuations are also concerned here as a part while it hasn’t been teased as a part anywhere in the patterns. Verbs are categorised as many branches like regular, semi regular and irregular with subdivisions in each branch. Perhaps any clarification in this regard, your suggestions are pleasantly welcome.  Le
