தொடங்கற்க எவ்வினையும் எள்ளற்க முற்றும்
இடங்கண்ட பின்னல் லது

விளக்கம்:
பகைவர் மீது படையெடுக்கும் முன்பே முற்றுகை செய்வதற்கான இடத்தை ஒரு அரசன் தேர்வு செய்துகொள்ள வேண்டும். எதிரியை வெல்வது எளிது என்கிற இறுமாப்பு அவனுக்கு இருக்கக்கூடாது.

அதி வலிமை நிறைந்து போரிடும் திறமையது ஒரு அரசனுக்கு இருந்தாலும், அரண் காத்து போரிடும் குணம் அவனிடம் இருப்பின் அது பலவித ஆக்கத்தை தரும்.

நீரில் வாழ்ந்து பிற உயிர்களை கொல்லும் முதலை, நிலத்திற்கு வந்தால் அந்த பிற உயிர்களால் கொல்லப்படும்.
(வீரம் விவேகம் வெற்றி அனைத்தும் இருக்கும் இடத்தை பொறுத்தது)

வீதியில் உலாவரும் தேர் கடல் சென்றால் மூழ்கும். கடலில் உலாவரும் கப்பல் நிலம் வந்தால் கரை தட்டும்.
(எந்த செயலுக்கு எந்த இடம் என்பதை ஒரு அரசன் அறிவது அவசியம்)

எண்ணி யிடத்தாற் செயின்

விளக்கம்:
பகைவரின் களம் அறிந்து போர் செய்யவேண்டிய திறன்களை எதை எதை எங்கு வைப்பது என்றறிந்தால் போதும், அஞ்சாமை என்கிற துணை ஒன்றே போதும் எதிரியை எளிதில் வென்றுவிடலாம்.

சிறிய படையாகினும் குறை ஒன்றுமில்லை. போர் களத்தில் அதற்கு ஏற்ற  இடத்தில் வைக்கப்பட்டால், அது பெரும்படையும் அழிக்கும் வல்லமை பெறும்.

வேலாள் முகத்த களிறு

விளக்கம்:
பாகனுக்கும் அஞ்சாத, வேல் கொண்ட வீரர்களையும் வீழ்த்த வல்ல யானை, சேற்றில் சிக்கினால் நரிக்கு தான் அது இரையாகும்.
(வீரம் அது சார்ந்து நிற்கும் இடத்தில் தான் பயன்படும்)
