பேதைமை என்பதொன் றியாதெனின் ஏதங்கொண்
டூதியம் போக விடல்

வருவாயை விட்டு விட்டு வராததை தேடி அலைவதே அறியாமை எனப்படுகிறது.

வெட்கப்பட வேண்டிய விஷயங்களுக்கு வெட்கப்படாமலிருத்தல், விரும்பியவற்றை நாடாதிருத்தல், அன்பு என்றால் என்ன என்று அறியாதிருத்தல், காக்க வேண்டியவற்றை காத்துக்கொள்ள தவறுதல்-இவையே அறியாமையின் சிறப்பியல்புகள்.

தான்புக் கழுந்தும் அளறு

அறிவற்ற செயல் செய்வோர்க்கு, இப்பிறப்பு என்றில்லை, ஏழு பிறவி எடுத்தாலும் அதன் துன்பத்தின் தாக்கம் இருந்து கொண்டு தான் இருக்கும்.

To those who do ignorant activities, misery would be tending not only in this birth but also in his seven births.

சிறந்த வழி எதுவென அறியாது செயலாற்ற துவங்குபவனின் செயலும் பாழாகும் அவனும் கெடுவான்.

விளக்கம்:
அறிவிலாதோர் திரட்டும் செல்வம் சம்மந்தமில்லாதவர்களால் அனுபவிக்கப்படுமானால், அவன் உற்றாரும் உறவினரும் வருந்தி அழுவர்.

When the wealth earned by an ignorant man is enjoyed by anonymous, the relative circle of the ignorant person would be worried out and crying.

பேதையின் கையில் ஒரு அரும்பொருள் கிட்டிவிட்டால்,  அதை பயன்படுத்தும் அறிவு இல்லாததனால், கள் உண்ட பித்தன் போல் கூத்தாடுவான்.

அறிவற்றவர்களுடன் நட்பு பெறும் சூழ்நிலை துன்பமேதும் தராது என்றாலும், இழப்பதனால் இன்பம் ஒன்றும் பறிபோய்விடாது.

மெத்த படித்த சான்றோர் கூடத்தில் பேதை ஒருவன் நுழைவதென்பது, கழுவாத காலுடன் படுக்கையில் ஒருவன் நடப்பது போன்றதாகும்.
