குறள் 841:
அறிவின்மை அன்மையுள் இன்மை பிறிதின்மை
இன்மையா வையா துலகு
- தெய்வப்புலவர்

விளக்கம்:
உலகிலேயே பெரிய இல்லாமை என்பது அறிவில்லாமை தான். அறியாமையை மிஞ்சிய இல்லாமை எதுவும் இல்லை.

The greatest lackness in the world is of course ignorance. There is nothing lacking beyond ignorance.

வெண்மையின் (அறிவின்மையின்) உள் அர்த்தம் என்னவென்றால், தனக்குத்தானே தன்னை அறிவாளி என்று பீற்றிக்கொள்வதாகும்.

குற்றம் என்று அறிந்த பின்பும் அதை நீக்கா தன்மை, உடலை மறைக்க உடை உடுத்துவதற்கு முரணானதாகும்.
