குறள் 241:
அருட்செல்வஞ் செல்வத்துள் செல்வம் பொருட்செல்வம்
பூரியார் கண்ணு முள

விளக்கவுரை:
எவ்வளவுதான் பொருள் செல்வம் யாரிடத்தில் இருந்தாலும் அது அருள் என்கிற செல்வத்திற்கு ஈடாகாது.

Explanation in English:
How far ever wealth can be had by whoever. Such is not equallent to the wealth of grace.

நல்லாற்றான் நாடி யருளாள்க பல்லாற்றால்
தேரினும் அஃதே துணை

விளக்கவுரை:
எவ்வழிச் சென்றாலும் கிடைக்கும் செய்தி, நல்வழி நாடிச் சென்று பெற்ற நல்லருள் ஒன்றே கடைசிவரை துணையாக நிற்கும்.

அருள்சேர்ந்த நெஞ்சினார்க் கில்லை இருள்சேர்ந்த
இன்னா உலகம் புகல்

விளக்கவுரை:
அருள் சேர்ந்த உள்ளமுடைவர்களுக்கு இருள் சூழ்ந்த துன்பம் என்றும் வருவதில்லை.

A graceful hearted person would never get darky illy life ever.

மன்னுயி ரோம்பி அருளாள்வாற் கில்லென்ப
தன்னுயி ரஞ்சும் வினை

விளக்கவுரை:
அனைத்து உயிர்களையும் நேசித்து வாழ்பவர்களுக்கு பேரருள்கிட்டுவதால் உயிருக்கு அஞ்சி வாழவேண்டிய அவசியம் அவர்களுக்கு இருக்காது.

If ones are loving all living beings in the world, as they are blessed immensely they can be away from the fear of death.

அல்லல் அருளாள்வார்க் கில்லை வளிவழங்கு
மல்லன்மா ஞாலங் கரி

விளக்கவுரை:
காற்று நிறைந்திட்டு இவ்வுலகை காப்பதுபோல் அருள் நிறைந்திட்டு நல்லோர்க்கு துன்பம் வருவதில்லை.

As if the wind stands and protects this world, graceful persons would be away from all evils.

பொருள்நீங்கிப் பொச்சாந்தா ரென்பர் அருள்நீங்கி
அல்லவை செய்தொழுகு வார்

விளக்கவுரை:
அருளில்லாதோர, தான் அடையப்போகும் துன்ப நிலையையும் அறியும் வாயப்பு கிட்டாதாவர்.

Graceless ones couldn't come to know what they are to meet difficulties in the future time.

அருளில்லார்க் கவ்வுலகம் இல்லை பொருளில்லார்க்
கிவ்வுலகம் இல்லாகி யாங்கு

விளக்கவுரை:
பொருட்செல்வம் இல்லாது ஒருவர்க்கு இவ்வுலகம் இன்பம் தராதது போல் அருட்செல்வம் இல்லாதோர்க்கு மோட்சத்தில் இடமில்லை

Explanation in English:
No pleasant in the present life to ones who don't have wealth likewise there would not be place in the heaven to those who don't have graces from god.

பொருளற்றார் பூப்ப ரொருகால் அருளற்றார்
அற்றார்மற் றாதல் அரிது

விளக்கவுரை:
பொருட்செல்வம் இழந்திருந்திருந்தாலும் மீட்டு விடலாம், இழந்த அல்லது இல்லாது போன அருட்செல்வத்தை மீட்டு பெறமுடியாது.

Explanation in English:
The lost wealth can be retrieved by one but not the lost graces can be gotten back.

தெருளாதான் மெய்ப்பொருள் கண்டற்றால் தேரின்
அருளாதான் செய்யும் அறம்

விளக்கவுரை:
அருள் இல்லாதவனின் அறச்செயல்கள் அறிவிலிகளின் நூல்களில் காணும் கருத்தை போன்றதாகும்.

Explanation in English:
Moralities done by graceless persons are equallent to the concepts of the books written by utter fools.

வலியார்முன் தன்னை நினைக்கதான் தன்னின்
மெலியார்மேற் செல்லு மிடத்து

விளக்கவுரை:
தன்னை விட பலம் குன்றியவர்களிடம் தன் வீரத்தை காட்டுவதற்கு முன், தன்னைவிட பலசாலியிடம் எதிர்கொள்ளும் ஆற்றல் தனக்கு உள்ளதா என்பதை ஒருவன் நினைத்துப் பார்க்க வேண்டும்.

Explanation in English:
One should think about whether he is strong enough to dash against one who is stronger than him before showing his bravery to one who is weaker.
