குறள் 951:
இற்பிறந்தார் கண்ணல்ல தில்லை இயல்பாகச்
செப்பமும் நாணும் ஒருங்கு

விளக்கம்:
உயர்குடி பிறந்தாரிடம் மட்டுமே சிறந்த பண்புகளும் நாணமும் ஒரு சேர இயல்பாக காணப்படும்.

நற்குடி பிறந்தார் செய்யும் குற்றம் சிறிதாகினும், அக்குற்றம் நிலவு ஒளி போல் வெட்டவெளிச்சமாக தெரிய ஆரம்பித்து விடும்.

நிலத்தின் பெருமையை அதில் விளைந்த பயிரின் தரம் காட்டுவது போல், ஒருவரின் நற்ச்சொல் நற்பேச்சு அவன் குடியின் பெருமையை எடுத்துரைக்கும்.

ஒருவர் தன் வாழ்க்கைக்கு நலம் வேண்டுமானால், அவரிடம் இயல்பாக நாணம் வேண்டும், அவர் தன் குலத்திற்கு பெருமை வேண்டுமானால் பணிவு வேண்டும்.
